What a Season
Welcome to the first Teamsnirt.net newsletter. You are either a member or have shown interest in the site and that’s why you have received this. Please feel free to send this on to anyone who you think would be interested in GPS routes for snowmobiles and ATV’s. Well our site has come a long way since Jay and I first came up with this idea about 3 years ago. It started out on a yellow piece of paper that I still have. As you know (or do now) we have created a super easy navigation system to find the information you want quickly and easily by clicking on states and counties. We have scoured through the web to find the information you need. This takes the work out of it for you. Now instead of having a hundred bookmarks you have one, linking to Teamsnirt.net. All this for free! Remember if you know of a link or visit a link that we don’t have listed send it to us and we’ll post it. We hope you use this for your gateway to access all the information you need to plan your trip. Be sure to let us know if you think we can do something better. This is the first season for Teamsnirt.net and we appreciate your patience. The member’s area is now open but still has some bugs that we are hard at work trying to iron out. See the related article to find out more about what it offers and what to expect in the future.
Members Area
For
the benefit of non-members I’ll explain how to get a membership and what it
includes. For those of you who have already purchased a membership this will be the first time you can log into the member’s area….sorry for the delay. Unfortunately it’s not perfect but we are working on the problem. You have to sign in twice. For example, if your username was “thecrew” and your password was “snirt” you would type your username and password into the correct text boxes and click OK. The boxes would clear and you would have to type it again. (You can copy and paste to speed this process up) You type it again and it lets you into the member’s area until you clear your cookies or they expire. We offer tracks in Garmin, Magellan, and GPX format so you’ll be able to download the file or files you need. Do you have multiple GPS units? No problem. You can download all of them as many times as you want, we’ll always have a copy for you so don’t be afraid to experiment. We are planning on implementing a member only message board so look for that soon.
Magellan Tracks
Unlike MapSource Garmins GPS software Magellan MapSend does not provide an easy way to view your GPS data across different GPS manufactures. We at Teamsnirt.net have taken care of that problem for you. We have converted all the tracks from Garmin to Magellan so you can use whatever type of software you want to view your tracks. If you own both brands you’ll now be able to have the same tracks for both units with out the pains of converting all of them.
If you are not sure how to unzip files see our FAQ section on the web site.
GPS Update
Since most of you have download the original file we have added several hundred miles of tracks to the database. Sign up for a membership or if you already have one be sure to download the new updated files. We had a very nice contribution from a member who had a bunch of tracks in Price County WI, thanks Les! Jay and I have just gotten back from Northern Wisconsin where we were finishing up marking Vilas, Iron, and Ashland Counties. Now we have updates for those areas. Jay also just got back from Wyoming were he marked trails in the Southeastern part of the state. If you have files be sure to donate them so we can start compiling a complete database of all the snowmobile trails in the United States. Remember it’s not what you ride it’s how hard you ride it!
